Date: 20051127
Location: George Mason Univeristy, Student Union II Ballroom, 4400 University Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.
Details: Scott "Big Noose" Nussman hooked us up. This is a Hurricane Katrina benefit. From the VOG site: Take 66E, exit for 123. Left on University Drive. Right at light on George Mason Blvd. Left into Patriot Circle. Park in Lot F.
Bands: VOG, Lord, and Blue Collar War. [Lineup ended up being Ol Scratch, Ex-Expanded Form Band, Blue Collar War and VOG.]
How it went: The weather was pretty bad but the show was good. Familiar faces and good jams. 3 Faces of Eve came out and came up on stage when we played. Just about everyone came on stage. It was our own little Biohazard moment. Hopefully Red Cross got some money from this show. It proved hard to get people to go to Mason on a Sunday night.

Location: Laughing Lizard Lounge, 1324 King Street, Alexandria, VA.
Details: Ex Machina hooked us up.
Bands: Raising Water by Fire, Ex Machina, and Dreaming of Eden.
How it went: This was one of the best shows we had played in a long time. Everyone was cool to us. We played second, people stayed around, and people were friendly and socialable. That is how all shows should be but seemingly never are. Nick Deems from the Twats came out, as did a lot of people that didn't go to many shows. Many thanks to Dreaming of Eden for the good words and for letting me borrow a guitar cab. Ex-Machina also deserves a lot of thanks for all the work they put into making the show go so well.

Location: Laughing Lizard Lounge, 1324 King Street, Alexandria, VA.
Details: Ex Machina hooked us up.
Bands: Ex Machina, Face to Glass, Raising Water by Fire, and Dreaming of Eden.
How it went: The Lizard is a great spot. Last I was there some girl was talking to me, but quickly became disintersted when she found I was drug/alcohol-free. "Straight Edge", as some say. I suppose people think Straight-Edgers aren't the best people to mooch alcohol from. That said, it was great to finally play in Alexandria. Though we are mostly from Alexandria, we have never played a show in our home town. One of our home towns, I should say. Great show, minus two things: one, I got sick yet again before our set, and two, I had to work the next day and I was out late. Those two things are completely my own fault. Everyone was really cool to us. We even had a gentleman there that saw our St Edwards show in 1999. Amazing memory on Alex's part. I felt really old. Left Unsaid is now almost 8 years old.
Date: 20051027
Location: Warehouse Next Door, 1017 7th Street, Washington DC.
Details: Scott/DoF hooked us up.
Bands: Drugs of Faith and Dysrhythmia.
How it went: A light turnout, but great people at this show. Some people came from Ohio to see Drugs of Faith. I had seen Dysrhythmia any times before and it was great to play a show with them. This was a really laid back show where people know you and you can relax. Every show should be one where you can relax but I am just not that type of person. Shows are usually really stressful affairs for me until about the second song in the set. When you have shows like this one, it is great to just be able to relax and have fun. Also of note is how good it feels when bigger bands like Dysrhythmia talk to you afterward and say nice things. Who knows if they are just being polite, but its great to have people that talented say nice things.
Date: 20051015
Location: U-Turn, 11th and U Streets NW, Washington DC
Details: Smitty hooked us up.
Bands: Too Many Chiefs, Funk Junkies, and Supreme Commander.[possibly more bands]
How it went: The show was good. We're always treated well by Mookie and U-Turn. Mookie was really cool about letting us borrow equipment and such. I was a bit ill, much like the Warehouse show a few shows back. Using the bathroom with a decent line waiting for you was quite interesting. Everyone was really cool to us, which is one reason we really like punk shows. People always give you an honest listen and tell you precisely what they like and don't like. I wonder if its possible for us to be a punk band without actually playing punk? Or is "punk" not really a type of sound so much? Parking wasn't fun, however.
Date: 20050813
Location: Mum's in Federal Hill, 1132 S. Hanover Street, Baltimore MD.
Details: Fundraiser for soccer supplies. Many thanks to Blackbird Rebird for getting us on.
Bands: Blackbird Rebird.
How it went: It was a great show. I had a good conversation on the way to Baltimore. It was a very hot day to be in a van with no air conditioning, I might add. We went first, and were a little worried that we'd be told to turn down. We can't really turn down. We are a loud band and I wouldn't really know how to tell a drummer to turn down. I certainly can turn my amp down, but there is no volume knob for acoustic drums. Also, the feel of the place was most decidedly "not heavy". So I admit I thought we'd really not do well. It ended up being one of our highest-energy shows in a while, and though many weren't ready for heavy stuff, there were a good amount of people that watched us. When I said our customary "We're Left Unsaid from Virginia", we heard back "Virginia is for lovers!" We heard that a few times. We got very sincere feedback and had a great time hanging with the old Ampersand crowd. Things just seem to go like that in Baltimore. Oh, we were told that watching us "was like watching a small battle". That, I think, is a fantastic comment. We're just not the type of band people say "good show" to. We have to be told things like "I don't know if I loved it or hated it". We wouldn't have it any other way.
Date: 20050806
Location: Warehouse Next Door, 1017 7th Street NW, Washington DC
Details: Woo.
Bands: 3 Faces of Eve and Jefferson Plane Crash.
How it went: A larger band was supposed to play the show for a long time, so we held off on promoting the show until we knew if the larger band could play. Well, we found out a week before the show that they were not going to play, so we had a short amount of time to promote the show. 3 Faces of Eve came through with flying colors, both promoting the show extensively and getting Jefferson Plane Crash on with only a day or two notice. This show was by far one of the best shows we've played in a long time. Great bands, great sets, and a decent turnout given the circumstances. A lot of good people came out. Many thanks to all the bands and the people.
Date: 20050618
Location: Warehouse Next Door, 1017 7th Street NW, Washington DC
Details: Ben Ex-Form hooked us up. 8:30pm.
Bands: The Expanded Form, 10th Key, and Immortal Avenger. [I.A. cancelled.]
How it went: It was a great show because it was much like the days of the old Fairfax Greenhouse shows. Though I said Fairfax, I know The Greenhouse was in Vienna. Matt Cactus "Bidwell" was there, much of Emerge Unburnt was there, and everyone knew each other. Sometimes its great to play for complete strangers and sometimes its great when people know the words and know your name. If I had a regret, it was that I ate some Quiznos early in the day and I got sick just minutes before we went on. Not that I am trying to swear off anything else in life, but I do believe I am finished with Quiznos. And I hadn't even mentioned what a lousy experience even walking into one that day became. Anyway, despite their old, funny "We love 'da subs!" commercials I believe I am through with them.
Date: 20050403
Location: Warehouse Next Door, 1017 7th Street NW, Washington D.C.
Details: Durga Temple hooked us up. 8:30pm.
Bands: Camp Climax for Girls, Scout's Honor, and possibly The Sordid Affair.
How it went: This was a fun, light show. No Durga Temple though. Shame as we'd love to play with them. There were not a whole lot of people there, and we weren't 100% sure we were on it until very close to the show date. Scouts Honor blew us away. And by us I mean Hendrik and myself. Anyway, it wasn't because SH is a fellow 2-piece. SH had an honesty, and was very interesting music-wise. One of the guitar players from CCFG lent me a guitar cab. Good show, especially because of how well WND treats bands.
Date: 20050225
Location: Kansas House, 900 N Kansas Street, Arlington, V A 22201.
Details: Left Unsaid's CD release, fool!
Bands: Jinxed at Twelve and The Twats.
How it went: Great show. My first with my new guitar. The Twats were excellent. This was the first LU/Twats show. Jinxed was great as usual. I've wanted to play Kansas House for a long time and even courted some "indie" bands to play, but I think we may have scared them away. A good amount of people showed up. We passed out a good amount of CDs as well. What a boring show write-up this is.
Date: 20050107
Location: Warehouse Next Door, Washington DC
Details: Some jammies at the WND.
Bands: The Goons, The Expanded Form, and The Twats. [ended up being On the Run, Expanded Form, and the Goons.]
How it went: Best show in a long time. Thanks to Matt Cactus "Bidwell" for giving the date, Scott Pasch and The Twats for lining up a good bi ll, and all the bands and people that came out. On the Run was great, as was Th e Expanded Form, and of course the Goons. Good to see the Goons again as we'd l ast played at the Sushi Cafe in Baltimore in 2000. That bands like us and the G oons can play and people can have a good time means a lot.
Date: 20041230
Location: DC9, 1940 9th Street NW, Washington DC, 20001.
Details: Last minute fill-in for The Twats.
Bands: Alleged Bricks, No Labels Fit, and The Human Soundtrack .
How it went: We got on this show in less than 24 hours before it was supposed to happen. Scott Pasch of The Twats and Overpriviledged(RIP) ha d leg surgery and had to cancel The Twats. Bill of DC9 was really cool to us. The bands also were really cool that night. Again, Punk rock bands and fans are probably the most open-minded and supportive bunch in DC. This show was no exc eption.
Date: 20041207
Location: Warehouse Next Door, Washington DC
Details: Big Noose wanted some LU lovin'.
Bands: The Wayward and Social Junk.
How it went: Awesome. Good people came out to see us. We pla yed first. I broke a string, but with a fixed bridge it didn't even matter. In fact, it was still in tune days afterward. If you just happen to have a tremol o, get rid of it as soon as you can. It was great to see the Wayward.
Date: 20041117
Location: The Velvet Lounge, Washington DC
Details: Just some jams at The Lounge.
Bands: The Pussy Whispers, Vargus, and Arch.
How it went: Fantastic, actually. All the bands were cool. Hendrik also plays in the Whispers with people I've known for a while. So there was some per-defined friendships that were good that night. Tom from Red Racer was on the mixing boards and was extremely cool to us. Thanks to the VL and ev eryone that was there.
Date: 20040926
Location: Charm City Art Space, 1729 Maryland Avenue, Bal timore, MD 21201
Details: 7pm. One of OP's last shows!!! (Or so I thouhgt. Th ey didn't play.)
Bands: The Phibes, Tricycle Farm, and Postscript Apologies.
How it went: One of the better shows we've played in a while. From the moment we got there, we were shown nothing but kindness from all the bands and of course our long-time friend Scott Pasch. We thought The OP was goi ng to play, but such was not the case. On that note I will go on record demandi ng we play their last show if and when it occurs. Anyway, the cowboy hat was po pular that day. The Phibes and Tricycle Farm made us feel right at home, which if strange considering TF is an out-of-town band. We even got a pumpkin from Th e Phibes after the show. I can't say we've ever had that before.
Date: 20040828
Location: Impressions, 2118 Maryland Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21218
Details: 7pm, $5. Thanks to Tess Smith.
Bands: The Screws, The Phibes, Mohammed, and Three Faces of Eve.
How it went: This was one of the crazier shows we've played in a while. Except for the "pretty normal" Sidebar show we played recently, most of our Baltimore shows have been "crazy" in some way. Baltimore is crazy to us Virginians used to cities like Richmond and Washing ton DC. The reason being that Baltimore "looks" intimidating. Its big, doesn't have the height limitations DC has, and people seem to be more ap t to engage you. That said, people seem friendlier when they don't seem more intimidating. Now that I have sullied my reputation talking about B altimore being scary, I should talk about the show. Everyone was cool. Three Faces of Eve helped us out by staying/helping us move things both b efore and after our set. We got hugs after every song by "Caroline" who probably drank too much. Ok, there is no probably about it. But though we were a little sloppy it was a great show and the kind you wish to play more often. We owe thanks to many that night.
Date: 20040810
Location: Cafe Mawonaj, 624 T Street N.W., Washington DC 20001
Details: 7pm. $5.
Bands: Encrypt Manuscript, Searchingforchin, Silent Reminder, and Bear and the Butterfly.
How it went: This was an interesting show because Mike is out in the Northwest becoming a lawyer. So, it is true that we have been working a s a 2-piece. This was our first show as such. Ecrypt Manuscript put on a great show. I haven't seen such a fun performance in a long time. As for us, I thin k it went pretty well. It takes some guts to play as two only, but we pulled it off.
Date: 20040706
Location: Nyumburu Cultural Center, University of MD, Col lege Park MD
Details: Scott "Big Noose" Nussman has the details. 7pm, $5.
Bands: Drugs of Faith, Wake Up on Fire, and Unpersons.
How it went: Lots of good people played this show. DoF were good. WUoF was good. One of their guitarists borrowed my amp, and he was actua lly cool about it. Its quite odd that people that borrow things wouldn't be cool about it, but so often people are careless with the possesions of others. This is especially true when people borrow PA equipment. Why they would trash PA's is beyond me. So the aforementioned behavoir was nowhere to be found that night . Good people and good show.
Date: 20040612
Location: McLean House, 6523 Ivy Hill Dr, McLean, VA 2210 1
Details: Hassan hooked us up. 6pm, $5.
Bands: 10th Key, Taste of Silver, Jinxed at Twelve, and Silent Reminder. [plus Thumbscrew]
How it went: This show was fun. It was great to play a show w ith Taste of Silver from Boston. I had worked with Nick from ToS while in Bosto n last year it was great to see him again hundreds of miles away. This really w as the kind of show you hope for. Many people you know are there, everyone is c ool (including the homeowner), and you don't really screw up that badly onstage. Thumbscrew from Texas was incredible. Jinxed at 12 and 10th Key were also grea t, just like the night prior. No micstand while we played, so Matt Cactus and H asan held the mic. Awesome people.
Date: 20040611
Location: Warehouse Next Door, 1021 7th Street NW, Washin gton DC
Details: Left Unsaid CD Release show. Matt Cactus "Bidwell" h as the details. 8pm.
Bands: Jinxed at Twelve, 10th Key, and Tradition Dies Here.
How it went: This show went swimmingly. Well, except that Matt Cactus had an incident at DC's California Tortilla. I haven't seen him that agitated since he saw his PA equipment in the audience during a Darkest Hour show. Kieth from The Overprivileged was there. Quality people all around.
Date: 20040522
Location: WMUC Radio Station, College Park MD
Details: Magrudergrind set this up. 3pm, $6.
Bands: Magrudergrind, Clancy Six, Elephant, With Anger, Anothe r Dying Democracy, Drugs of Faith, Mc Dwell, Exosus, Defined Print, Emphasis, Ra ndom Acts of Violence, Shit Dogs of War, and Karma Payment Plan.
How it went: Went well. We were exhausted. Hendrik ate some sort of voodoo potato and got sick beforehand, I had to work and was exhausted when I got there, and Mike I think was fit as a fiddle. Despite feeling bad, we were really happy with the set. We had a great time. A lot of really cool peo ple watched us and came to see us. The WMUC people gave us a really cool record ing as well. Many thanks to them for that. I was there for almost the entire s how and can say it was one of the best ones I've been to all summer. Well its n ot summer yet but Im sure I will say the same thing when it is actually summer. The Cicada's[sp?] were in full effect that day.
Date: 20040514
Location: American University Kay Spiritual Center, 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington DC
Details: Forensics record release. 8pm, $6.
Bands: Forensics, The Holy Mountain, and Death By Limelight.
How it went: Everyone was really cool at this show. DBL was 2 really cool people, and it was nice to meet another persont thats going to be on Magnacarta's CD with us. Mike's bass was giving us trouble, which was a complete shame because I played with a full stack for the first time and actually didn't feel underpowered. The kind and helpful Florida band lent us a head for the set but we didn't then realize it was Mike's Monster cable. See, Mike has had a really weird bass issue thats brought his amps and bass guitars into the shops for years... It never occured to us to use a different cable. Different amps, guitars, etc, but never did we test the simplest thing... the cable. So it was certainly weird for me to not hear Mike. Usually we complain about each others volume. This is the first in 6 years that I felt louder than the bass... and it was not good. The next show I played without a full stack. I wish I had. I felt Mike was louder then.
Date: 20040222
Location: The Broasis, 2981 Falls Road, Baltimore MD.
Details: 7pm. BJ from Hulk Smash/Fire Down Below weasled us on.
Bands: Hulk Smash and Blue Humors.
How it went: Mike Riley's house scares me. Well, Baltimore scares me. But Riley had an assortment of friendly cats and some cookies which made things cool. Blue Humors played and immediately scrammed. Hulk Smash was awesome. Rose pedals on the ground and everything. It was mighty cold, so I played in an overcoat. A first. My voice gave out during a high-pitched singing part which was embarrassing. Rather than avoid singing the next high part I tried again and again missed it. I wanted to take the scenic route out of Baltimore at 1130pm or so on that fine Sunday but got our little van lost in Northwestern Baltimore. Block after block of abandoned townhouses. I was running reds left and right. Finally I got us out. Later I got food at Dunkin Donuts and tipped a fast-food restaurant for the first time.
Date: 20040220
Location: The Expanded House, 1756 Pimmit Drive, Falls Church VA.
Details: $5. 6pm. This is a benefit for Crash Diagnostic. Thanks to Ben for adding us.
Bands: Acedia, Expanded Form, Jefferson Plane Crash, The 10th Key, and House Wife Knife Party.
How it went: Its hard to get better than Expanded House shows. Everyone there is cool. Binh from Jinxed at Twelve even appeared. Expanded's new singer was good. Seemed to enjoy it. We had fun. We were in the studio going over our songs a lot, so it was nice to play confidently. That being said, I was extremely sloppy. Not sure anyone noticed. After got to hang out a bit at the old Fairfax Circle IHOP.
Date: 20040207
Location: The Sidebar, 218 E. Lexington Street, Baltimore MD 2 1202.
Details: 8pm. Karma Payment Plan rocks and hooked us up.
Bands: Karma Payment Plan, Triac, A Day in Black and White, Swarm of the Lotus, and The Malevoiy.
How it went: We were glad to get another chance to play the Sidebar. Last we had the opportunity three years ago we had to cancel, unfortunately, on the day of the show. It was also one of those shows where you just want things to go right. The door of Hendrik's van was causing grief, but he fixed it with his magic van powers. It was a good show. The people frequenting/working the Sidebar seemed devoid of all of the all-too-common "heavy music attitude". Having nice people at these events is crazy. Nonetheless, we were very graciously treated by the soundman Mark and of course by the wonderful gents in KPP as well as the other bands. Sorry I am dwelling on niceness, but its just so rare in these shows. It was nothing short of amazing.
Date: 20040129
Location: The U-Turn, 11th and U Streets NW, Washington DC
Details: Johnny Bones and Mookie hooked us up.
Bands: Missalaneous Seeds[sp?], Splintered Jelly Beans, and Go jira-X.
How it went: It was cold, I tell you. Cold. There was a lot of snow and ice present from the recent storms, and it was windy to make matter s worse. A nice bowl of chili from Ben's Chili Bowl fixed us right up. That pl us I ate some ice cream with Mike. We went on at around 12:30 or so but people still stuck around for us and were really cool. It was a good time. There were drunk people there, but that was our fault. We put them there.

Location: Magrudergrind House, 10012 sinnot dr, Bethesda MD
Details: The MG people are awesome. Sincere hugs from them. 5pm, $5.
Bands: Magrudergrind, Recourse, With Anger, and Burning Shadows.
How it went: It went well. Terminally, Your Aborted Ghost and others were supposed to play, but only ourselves and Magrudergrind were actually present from the original lineup. Everyone from the bands were cool, especially Mikhail from With Anger. When we first started playing few were there, but that changed a little later on. I blamed it on the Sars epidemic.
Date: 20031021
Location: Grog and Tankard, Washington DC.
Details: Hendrik was asked by Butch. That and "Denny's band was playing."
Bands: Causing Effect and Brutal Dysfunction.
How it went: Not a huge showing but fun anyway. Tony was great running the night and everyone had fun. The people from Brutal Dysfunction were really cool to us and we thank them.
Date: 20031018
Location: Expanded Form House, 1756 Pimmit Drive, Falls Church VA.
Details: Ben Waniels mailed us. $6. 5pm.
Bands: Expanded Form, 10th Key, Fierce Allegiance, Magrudergri nd, I Object, Failsafe.
How it went: Woah, a whole lot of bands got added. It was gr eat seeing all the old Emerge Unburnt people and Magrudergrind. A lot of really cool people came out for that show. We had a blast. I had to clarify a song t itle, a first, and we heard much mention of "Josh's Sister". The phrase of the show was "Ass Clown".
Date: 20031011
Location: Magrudergrind House, 10012 sinnot dr, Bethesda MD
Details: Avi mailed us. 5pm.
Bands: carrion, the karma payment plan, triac, and magrudergrind.
How it went: It was good. Misery Index and Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus cancelled. Fun. It was good music in this tiny little basement. Very impressed by Karma Payment Plan. Magrudergrind goes out of their way for the bands that play the house. Great group of people.
Date: 20031010
Location: Blue Nile, 600 Florida Avenu NE (corner of 6 and T), eWashington DC.
Details: Jeremy mailed us. 8:30pm.
Bands: American Centuar, Needless Guilt, Beneath the Falling Skies, and Downside Risk.
How it went: Would have to say Dave and Mike Kensey[sp?] of Needless Guilt are some of the coolest guys we have talked to in a while. BJ, Helen, and Pat Vogel showed up just as we were to go on. That made the night for us.
Date: 20030905
Location: Sharpshooters, Manassas VA
Details: Butch hooked us up.
Bands: Scarred Visions and 3 Faces of Eve.
How it went: The Harleys and some of the music on the speakers frightened me a little, but I will have to say everyone that talked to us was really cool. I was having a little trouble playing. Later in the show I saw two people moshing on each other. Can't say I have seen that before. Everyone was cool and treated us well.
Date: 20030829
Location: Julie's House, Arlington VA
Details: Love in the Time of Cholera hooked us up.
Bands: Love in the Time of Cholera, I'd Rather Die, Julie's Band, and Maple.
How it went: Our first show together in almost 2 years. It was fun. Really cool space and a lot of cool people. We scared away most of the girls that were there, but there actually were one or two that watched us.

Jamie's General Bean in Vienna, VA with:
The Sordid Affair and Carrion. Courtesy of Chris of the Bean.
Write-up: Our "last show". Well, it was our last show at the time. It was cold, we didn't advertise, Chris of the Bean wasn't happy that we changed the bill a lot. I was really unhappy so I didn't play well, but Mike and Hendrik were on point. Kieth and Scott of the Overprivileged came to see us despite having a show of their own. Some idiot who shall remain nameless came to see us and heckled us. Wish I had told said idiot to shut up. Everyone that was there, especially The OP, Matt Bidwell, and Groo and Roberto meant a lot to us.

High Fidelity in Woodbridge VA with:
Emerge Unburnt, 5 Minutes From Now, The Falling Action.
Write-up: After the previous shows, despite the fact I have a 'bigger' amp, I still wasn't loud enough. So for this show I brought 6 12's. Some players use 8 12's. I think it was loud enough. We hadn't practiced in a while so I was a little concerned but the people that run and frequent that place are great. We felt right at home, and played a good show. Unfortunately, we missed Emerge Unburnt again. I told them they are no longer allowed to open shows. 5 Minutes From now was cool. Its great that Mike has a really diverse spectrum. Heavy in Thira and the other side with 5 Minutes. Saw Falling Action again, the first time being in Richmond at Chopstix. I remembered their Philidelphia song. Greg, Shane, and Dave again were great and we thank them for getting us on the show.

High Fidelity in Woodbridge VA with:
The Open Secret, 5 Minutes From Now, and Thira.
Write-up: I am pressed to recall a show where everyone was as cool to us as everyone was at this show. Greg, Dave, Shane, Justin, Mike... nice, nice people. Mike from Thira, formerly Ourselves Alone, called us 'the hardest working band in Hardcore', despite the fact I called them Ourselves Alone then Thora on accident. We caught bits of Open Secret and 5 Minutes From Now. We missed them because we ate Wendys food that made us all sickly. We did catch Thira who put on quite a show. Much different from OSA. Like the last show, many people split the scene when we got on. Fortunately many came back. I was told to sing happy birthday to Andrea, who wasn't there. Afterward, I hung out at the Thira house and had fun.

Pat's Red Cross Benefit at The Mooselodge in Vienna VA with:
Moesha Jenkins, Talia, Brace, 'Jay's New Band', Paper Doll, Worn Thin, and Churner.
Write-up: It was really cool to play a benefit show, especially for something like the Red Cross. September 11th was an atrocity, and knowing the noise we made helps the victims of Bin Laden feels good. So there is no ambiguity on our position, Bin Laden must be removed. There is scarcely a good argument for not doing so on account of ~5000 dead. Think he didn't do it? Think OJ didn't either? Anyway... I had to work so we got there at the end. Churner was good, and it was the first I had seen them with a new guitarist. Moesha Jenkins was fun, and played a precise cover of one of my favorite ol' skoo Helmet songs. Tom attacked some plants that were on stage. I thought we as a whole could have been nicer given the circumstances of the day, so I apologized to a bunch of folks.

Jamie's General Bean in Centerville VA with:
Emerge Unburnt, Plan 15, and Black Horizon.
Write-up: This was a good show. There was a good turnout and it was mostly positive. I will first and foremost thank Emerge Unburnt for not only all that Will has done for us but for how they kept good attitudes and were so willing to accommodate others. Though they were a little unhappy, they played a good set and I enjoyed the Pooh Bear outfit. Last I had seen them was in February, and can say they progressed very nicely. Not since Flirting With Disaster had I heard Julia play, and I got hear her new band Black Horizon. Turns out Dave from that band is a guy I knew a number of years ago that I used to hang out with. The people that stuck around made our set a lot of fun. This was the fourth and likely last show I will do without ear-plugs. We had a blast. Afterward, Hendrik felt queasy so he threw-up outside. The story goes that while in the midst of such an affair, a gentleman challenged Hendrik to a ralphing contest. The story also goes that Hendrik gave about 6 'trials' but lost to the gentleman who gave about 12. Strange things, man. After that, we all went to Mike's house where I whooped Mike 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth in Nintendo's classic: RBI Baseball. Booya Grandma... Booya.

Jamie's General Bean in Centerville VA with:
Plan 15 and The Overprivileged.
Write-up: Great show. The OP are wonderful hosts and we thank them immensely for hooking us up yet again. A new habit of mine is to get places early, and this day was no exception. I ate pizza with Mike's parents and discussed Northern Virginia traffic patterns across seasons. Tom from the Others gave us a hand with things and watched the show. Plan 15 was up first and they played well. I could hear the 'metal' in the drummer with mini-blasts and really quick fills. It reminded me of the old days. Thanks to Kevin for letting us borrow his cabinet. We had a lot of fun and I thought we played well. I wasn't sure that the people would like some of our newer stuff, but it seemed to go well. The OP closed with the best performance I have seen them do to date. They are really tight and energetic after going on tour. Scott had a new drum dance that consisted of him sitting on his floor tom and playing. There was, of course, more one-legged madness as well. It just wouldn't be an OP show without it. Temple and friends came, but managed to lock their keys in the car. I hate it when that happens...

Jamie's General Bean in Centerville VA with:
Failed Logic, Self Help Group, and more.
Write-up: Crazy day. Hendrik and I almost had to skip this show because we both were to attend weddings. My plan was to go to NOVA from Richmond for a 10-12pm Linux meeting and pick up my half-stack and a shirt and tie for the wedding. That happened, with the exception of the amp, as I took a trade-off in the interest of time. It mattered not, as there was no way I was going to get to Richmond in time for the 3pm wedding. (That thought surfaced while I was in Woodbridge and explored possible ways to travel 100 miles in 60 minutes legally.) Upon realization of that fact, I could cut my losses and stay in NOVA avoiding 200 miles of further travel. Wrong. To save time on the way to the meeting, I left my guitar in my Richmond apartment. Not only did I miss the wedding, I still had to go to Richmond to merely get a guitar. I ended up getting to the show right as Failed Logic was playing. They were good. I had never seen them before, and I was really impressed. They were cool enough to save our bacon by lending us 2 amps and a mic. Some bands take it for granted but its not often that people sing along with us. For one, its hard to do when the singer can't hold the mic for people. 2, people have no clue what we are saying. Our lyrics are printed right on the CD layout but that never seems to cut it. Yes, it would help if people could understand what I was saying without things like lyric sheets, I know. The Failed Logic people sang along and it was cool. People there were really cool too. The 2 previous bands were really nice and cool to talk to, making me feel like a complete jackass for getting to the show so late. The latter reason is also why I have "and two more" above instead of the names of the bands we played with. If people actually read these writeups, email the names and I will put there there. Afterward, Matt Cactus and myself tried to hit Anita's but they changed their hours again. We were left with no other pseudo-Mexican food alternative other than Taco Bell, so we went and ate stuff. On the way home I listened to a talk about how Abraham Lincoln was not, in fact, the "Great Emancipator" but rather a racist puppet. Lincoln and the Civil War is a newer hobby of mine so I respectfully disagree. Oh, we had a blast, so this show was awesome.

Chris' house in Richmond VA with:
Richmond Lucha Libre for a music/wrestling show.
Write-up: Simply one of the most fun shows we have played. This was a wrestling show featuring a ladder match. Things were hectic all around, so we had little time to prepare/promote the event. We got there a bit late and played 4 songs, including one so new it lacks a name. In my infinate wisdom, I left my half-stack in Northern Virginia so I was left with my little combo. Surprisingly, the combo and not having a P.A. didn't seem to adversely affect things. The people were fun, the show was fun, and it was great. Two squadcars appeared during our last song (Soft Hands), but even that wasn't bad. After us there was more wrestling that was totally crazy. Flips, 1-story-tall ladders, and 7-inches were all used as weapons. It was crazy. We all then ate at 3rd Street where I was accused of making up items on the menu.

Chopstix in Richmond VA with:
Fire Down Below and Clog the Rivers With Our Dead.
Write-up: Ah Chopstix. I was a slight bit concerned with having the show there, as I recall reading an email from The Overpriviledged saying that they had their show canceled the same day it was supposed to happen. This was an all out-of-town show, and I didn't want to be the one to tell Fire Down Below that they must return to Philly. So when we got there, they pretended not to be home and said there was no show tonight. After I stated my case, they reluctantly let me do the show if and only if they could get $3 of the door money in addition to the $30 it costs to rent the place. $3 is what we were advertising, so we lost a chunk of change paying the bands. Would we play Chopstix again? Yes. Would we be the ones setting up the show? I doubt it. The show was fun, though. I felt we played well, and I needed that. FDB made it a lot of fun for us. They played with a limited crew, but still played a full set, including my favorite "Your Life". CTRWOD was cool. They drove from North Carolina and were the politest band we have worked with in a long time. Light the Fuse and Run didn't play as was planned, but Chris made an appearance and all was good. I swear, anyone that is in regular contact with Churl/El Ahrierah[sp?]'s Johnny Z will inadvertently become really cool as well.

Club HP, North Philidelphia PA with:
Fire Down Below, THC, and This Time Tomorrow.
Write-up: For only the second time I can remember, we were late when it wasn't my fault. It was the Chili. But it was cool, because he drove while Hendrik yelled at people peeing on the side of the road. We got there and FDB was setting up. In the time it took the next band to PA their entire setup, both ourselves and FDB had completed our sets and had removed our equipment. Like the Twisters show, we were rudely and needlessly rushed prompting a Hendrik "Short enough for you?" remark. I was happy with our performance because for the last two shows I didn't really feel confident. Afterward we checked out the Garlic Haus and watched UCB. Delaware is a different beast entirely. People in both places weren't really used to us yelling "Hey" out the window. The show the next day was cancelled but it was still cool. We had a great time.

The Greenhouse in Vienna VA (The birthday of Matt 'The Cactus' Bidwell) with:
Churner, The Vecks, and Looks Like Rain.
Write-up: What more noble a cause for music than a birthday? Such was the case on this Thursday. We finished our CD layout, at the Greenhouse actually, and were visited by a boney cat. It was a really positive show, and Churner and LLR are great people to talk to.

02:17:2001
Vienna Community Center in Vienna VA with:
Trailer Trash UK and The Overpriviledged.
Write-up:Its been unseasonably warm for pretty much all February, except this night. The temperature was in the twenties. That seemed to keep a few people from the show, but not BJ from Fire Down Below who drove all the way from Philly. He hooked us up with CDs, which helped while I was making our CD layout and needed a CD in the middle of Kinkos. The OP put on one of the best shows we have seen them play and had the audience totally into it. TTUK and US Agents were, again, really cool and really cool to work with. Afterward a bunch of us (including an appearance by The Cactus) went to Anita's, which was a first for me. They gave me nachos that were entirely too small.

02:10:2001
Vienna Community Center in Vienna VA with:
Lost It, Jonas, Jinxed At Twelve, and Emerge Unburnt.
Write-up: Will set up a show and hooked us up. We had fun. Its rare that you play a show where everyone is cool. Jonas was really cool to us, as well as the rest of the bands. Lost It gave me some ginger because "Its good for my throat", and I almost choked on it.

01:20:2001
Chopstix in Richmond VA with:
Battalion 86, Spitfires United, and The Overpriviledged.
Write-up: The Overprivileged hooked us up. We felt a little awkward being the 'odd' band at this show, but it all turned out fine. We played last and Battalion 86 managed to stick around for our set. One intersting note. A gentleman from JMU was wondering when Left Unsaid was playing. He said he heard all of our mp3.com stuff and thinks we are terrific. Such comments really made me feel good except he left with four of his friends when he found out we were not the West-Coast Left Unsaid. It happens.

01:13:01
Twisters in Richmond VA with:
Time Flies, DTN, Our Live's Memories, Age of Ruin, Brass Knuckles, Count Me Out, Project 208, and Falling Down.
Write-up:This show was an all-day Hardcore-fest. We ended up opening the show. We were rushed, and when I asked where the mics were the sound-guy screamed "Stage Right and Stage Left". When I made a joke of that at the end of our set, the two of us had a little talk. My attitude was (and is) don't treat bands like crap then wait for them to prove themselves. We ended up smoothing things out, and I was told we were "better than he thought", but still that attitude needs to go. Why treat people like that? What does that mean? Treat bands like crap unless they are good, then contradict yourself? It wasn't just him, as well. Its not like there aren't enough people trying to ruin the scene.

12:16:00
The Greenhouse in Vienna VA with:
The Overpriviledged and 13 Quintet.
Write-up: Hendrik's B-day, Jeff, Carl, and Matt Cactus hooked us up. Jolly. The Greenhouse proprietors were really cool to us. I ate all the salt i could find in the house, and nobody got mad at us. The OP played a really cool set and stuck around for the end of the tomfoolery. We also discovered just how deep Carl is. Mike, Carl, and myself bonded over ridiculously hot salsa, as Carl explained why he doesn't drink milk.
Date: November 19th, 2000
Location: Jammin Java, Vienna VA.
Details: We were hooked up.
Bands: Acidia, Arson, and Vengence Theory.
How it went: I was really late to the show. Undying, Facedown, and Prayer For Cleansing had cancelled, so the show started later. We opened and were a little rusty but still it was fun. I remember being told I couldn't put my micstand on the ground. That and the people were really, really silent.
Date: November 11th, 2000
Location: Vienna Community Center, Vienna VA.
Details: The Overpriviledged hooked us up again(What nice fellas).
Bands: The Overprivileged, Trailer Trash UK (PA).
How it went: Im usually the late one but Chili and Soup had a 13 Quintet show that ran late. I think we played alright. Afterward I hung with TTUK and the OP at an IHOP. We talked about Dopewars and fights.
Date: October 28th, 2000
Location: Dematha H.S., College Park MD.
Details: We were hooked up.
Bands: Lost It, Hot Charlie, A Special Kind of Fall, Jonas, Channel 43, Brace, Fury For Another, Flickerflame, Striking Distance, For The Living, The Remotes, Rest Assured, and Bionic man.
How it went: It went really well. The people setting it up were really cool and so were all of the bands there. I think we played really well, despite Mike's bass dying. Thanks to Bionic Man for helping us out.

Early before the show I felt great and was really excited about the show. I was all stressed out because of school so I felt great to make some rock. Then, at an Italian restaurant, I got the runs. I hadn't even eaten anything there. So got hooked up with some Immodium AD. I thought that would interfere with the show, but it didn't. Afterward, we ate with the Remotes at another Italian joint, but I didn't get the runs.
Date: October 14th, 2000
Location: The Brick House, Blacksburg VA.
Details: Julie hooked us up.
Bands: Dishpig, The Others, and Donkey Punch.
How it went: The show was for the launch of The Others tour. It was the most fun we had in a while. The bands played great and everyone was cool, especially the Brick House people.

For whatever reason, I decided it was a good idea to try to jump over a trash can on to a concrete embankment. I ended up crashing into the embankment and knocking over 3 trash cans. The rest of the night I was called "Jackass" and "Gimp".
Date: October 8th, 2000
Location: Ottobar, Baltimore MD.
Details: Ampersand hooked us up.
Bands: Ampersand and Orange Eye.
How it went: For a late show on a Sunday night the turnout was about right. I was nervous/tired so I could have played better, and Mike's strap was causing fun. I think overall we played O.K. Orange Eye and Ampersand were both great.
Date: October 7th, 2000
Location: Dan Frowen's College, Somewhere in MD.
Details: Dan set up a school show.
Bands: Lost It.
How it went: I was expecting to see many more females at the show since it was a predominately female college but such was not the case. Very fun show. The people were cool and Dan's band was a lot of fun. The Tow son Diner made us all sick after the show.
Date: September 30th, 2000
Location: Vienna Community Center, Vienna VA.
Details: Overpriviledged Set it up.
Bands: Overpriviledged, US Agents, Flirting With Disaster, Looks Like Rain, and Our Lives Memories.
How it went: Pretty good show. People were dancing to the other bands but not dancing for us so I had to ask them to. Thats kind of like a comedian asking an audience to laugh. We played well, despite how tired we were from all the traveling. Some kid was harassed by the cops for drinking. I wouldn't see why the VCC would be a good place to drink...
Date: September 29th, 2000
Location: Chopstix, Richmond VA.
Details: Overpriviledged Set it up.
Bands: Overpriviledged, Red Angel Dragnet, and Peg Boys.
How it went: Really fun show. I had a pretty draining day so I wasn't really in the mood to play a show. About all I was in the mood for was sleep. It turned out we played really well. After the show more draining stuff was happening but I really wasn't in the mood for it so I didn't take it.
Date: September 22nd, 2000
Location: Jamie's general Bean, Centerville VA.
Details: Im not sure how this came about, I think Hendrik set it up.
Bands: Ourselves Alone, Escape From Reason, Our Lives Memories.
How it went: The night was cold, so I kept trying keep my hands warm. I had a pretty decent cold happening, so my throat wasn't in the best of conditions. People there played the "Im only watching the band I came for" which wasn't cool, but John gave me free cinnamon thingies which was. Scott Pasch helped us out with carrying things.
Date: September 16th, 2000
Location: Chopstix, Richmond VA.
Details: We decided to do a show.
Bands: Tri-State Killing Spree, and With Death Comes Despair.
How it went: A fun show. Chopstix is basically the Richmond version of Baltimore's Sushi Cafe. I felt we were a bit rusty, especially myself. Nonetheless, it was really cool that so many people came out and showed support. Tri-State was the best I have ever seen them, despite guitar trouble. It was great the WDCD's Lenny wore an afro for a little bit when they played. Its cool that they are good at what they do and also have fun with it.
Date: August 26th, 2000
Location: Sushi Cafe, Baltimore MD.
Details: We decided to do a show.
Bands: Riot 84, 13 S.O.S, Hiret Sukan[sp?], Fire Down Below, Bedlam, Last Day Parade.
How it went: An eventful show. Very eventful. Basically, the lineup was completely different from the original. Bands brought other bands, bands canceled, bands came from all over. Fire Down Below was great and were really cool to work with, as usual. I had never hear Hiret Sukan before. They were good as well as intense. I had my personal best at that show.

One interesting note: Last Day Parade knew the New Mexico Left Unsaid. Ryan from that band actually named them that. We talked for a while and he was the coolest guy. We even dedicated a song to the N.M. Left Unsaid. Every band cut their set and Last Day Parade played. For some reason the singer threw his shoe through the window and ignored me telling him they had 5 mins left to play due to Sushi's rules. Matt from Bedlam paid for the window. Everything and everyone else was really cool to work with.
Date: August 20th, 2000
Location: VFW, Falls Church.
Details: Im not really sure what the details are.
Bands: Catharsis, As the Sun Sets, Undying, Vengence Theory, Age of Ruin, and Ruination.
How it went: Rock. This show was great. We felt we played really well. As the Sun Sets was really good. The drummer was also a really cool guy and didn't have an ego. After the show, a guy had one of those mini-scooters. I got to ride it and have to admit it was fun. They are hard to steer, though. That didn't stop the scooter's owner from jumping over As the Sun Sets' flaming shoe fire. (Apparently it was to celebrate the end of a tour.)
Date: August 19th, 2000
Location: Joe's house, Vienna VA.
Details: I think Joe just wants to have a show.
Bands: Paper Doll.
How it went: It was a really cool show. Though we feared it would start pouring, it didn't. I felt I was a little off but it still went well. Afterward we ate cake and Boca Burgers. People from Paper Doll helped us out a lot and we appreciate it.
Date: August 13th, 2000
Location: 1231 Cary St, Richmond VA.
Details: Churl hooked us up.
Bands: Churl, Refuse and Resist, El Ahrairah, and Face Down in Shit.(I hope I have all the bands right)
How it went: Jolly. Many thanks to Johnny Z and Ryan for having us there. Thanks also to Tyler of El Ahrairah for lending me his 4x12 during our set. Since that is the 3rd show in a row where I borrowed a Peavey 4x12 stereo cabinet, I likely will buy one. We think it went well, and its always fun to play Richmond. The people were really cool before and after the set, making us feel welcome. I will say it again: House shows rock.
Date: July 29th, 2000
Location: Sushi Cafe, Baltimore MD.
Details: Overpriviledged hooked us up.
Bands: Interns, Overprivileged, Spitfires, and The Goons.
How it went: Its cool being somewhat of a different style than the majority of bands at a show. You may not always have 100% support but when you do have support its often sincere. Thanks to Dan of the Overpriviledged for lending me his 4x12. The night was wild, and three bands immediately played the sidebar afterward. The Interns had driven all the way from Ohio to play. It was my first time meeting the Spitfires and the Goons and they were really cool people.
Date: July 16th, 2000
Location: Wilson Center, Washington DC.
Directions: 15th and Irving. NW Washington, DC
Details: Hendrik knows more than I.
Bands: Crispus Attucks, Aloha, Lovesick, Mutiny, Boxcar Children, and Epson Energy.
How it went: Pretty good show. I feel we played well, despite the hardship and confusion of "to play on the stage or play on the ground". We opted to play on the ground as its much more fun and intimate. Aloha was pretty wild with a xilaphone[sp?], and supposedly a girl was cigarette-mugged. Our friends in Boxcar Children were really cool to us and played a good set. Thanks also to BC for lending a 4x12 cabinet.
Date: July 8th, 2000
Location: The Greenhouse, Vienna VA.
Directions: "495 to 66w. Take the Nutley St exit toward Vienna. Left on 123 (Maple Avenue/Chain Bridge Rd). Right on Flint Hill Rd, Left on Rambling Rd. Greenhouse is on the right, #2567."
Details: Kaffa couldn't "get it up", so Jeff helped us out.
Bands: Morbius and Sellout Posers.
How it went: We were the opening band. I think we and the crowd were tired. Since Kaffa fell at the last moment, Jeff let us use his place to play. What a nice guy.

It was our first time hearing Sellout Posers. They lived up to what I heard. A really original band with cool people. It was really cool playing with Morbius, as well. I remember seeing them at a local show about 5 years ago with Abominog, Desolate Angel, other bands.
Date: July 7th, 2000
Location: Sushi Cafe, Baltimore MD.
Details: The Venkmans hooked us up.
Bands: The Venkmans, The Remotes, and The Springfields.
How it went: We had a lot of fun, and played better than we had in a long time. We unfortunately missed the Remote's set and played right after The Springfields. We were mic-less so thanks to whoever asked The Springfields for a mic.

Afterward, we hung out with the Remotes in Arlington. We packed 6 people in a 4-seater booth and played that game where someone makes a circle with their fingers resulting in someone being punched.
Date: July 3rd, 2000
Location: Robot house, Philadelphia PA.
Directions: 35th and Haverty.
Details: Show trade.
Bands: Fire Down Below, Dark Day Dawning, The Falsies, Strike Anywhere, and De La Hoya.
How it went: Our first Philly show. It was very much fun. Just about all the bands watched other bands, and people were really happy to play/see the show. As for us, we were drained from the trip and all 3 of us nearly passed out on stage. Great show, however.

Just like our last Kaffa show, another random lady appeared and kept causing trouble. Instead of yelling "Wheres my man?" she merely yelled all sorts of profanity and proceeded to grab people.
Date: July 1st, 2000
Location:The Greenhouse, Vienna, VA.
Details: Tears of Mourning cancelled, and we made it on at the last minute.
Bands: Ursula Major, and Wounds.
How it went: My personal favorite is to play house shows, so we had a blast. We had about 5 minutes notice so we rushed to get there. I was also wearing a huge, hot afro. Jeff was really cool to put us on and to have shows at his own house. Ursula Major was great. They were friendly people with an original sound. Many thanks to their drummer Bryan for lending us his snare.
Date:Saturday, April 29th, 2000
Location: VFW, Falls Church.
Details: Lets rent VFW again. $5
Directions: "take 495 towards tysons exit on Rt 7 towards falls church (east) once you pass rt. 66, turn right at the mcdonalds on Shreve rd. its a big white building, address: 7118 Shreve rd., Falls Church call VFW : (703) 241-9274"
Bands: Scarlet, Crestfallen, Ourselves Alone, Tristate Killing Spree, The Others, Tears of Mourning, Caste, and The Overprivileged.
How it went: We are really happy that there seems to be a really positive attitude among the people that play/see shows. The Overprivileged were really cool people and stayed most of the show, as did Jo from Ourselves Alone and a lot of others. Caste played really well and were great to talk to. Thanks to Tristate for getting out a good message when they played, and thanks to Nathan from Crestfallen for taking pictures.

As for us, we needed this to go well considering the last VFW was awful for us. This time no broken strings or anything else "chicken soup" bad. During The Others' set, one of the people that runs/inhabits VFW yelled at us to "keep that goddam door shut. Dem dam neighbors gonna complain." Can't say I have heard that at a show before.
Date: Saturday, April 22nd, 2000
Location: Kaffa House, Washington DC.
Directions: 1212 U St. NW Washington, DC
Details: Lets rent the Kaffa house.
Bands: Churl, Ampersand, Pig Destroyer, and Jackie Chan.
How it went: All the bands played well, making a really good show. There were no fights, and nobody being really stupid(except for some drunk lady grabbing the mic when Pig Destroyer played, yelling "Wheres my man?" Most people told her that her man was outside.) All the bands were good people and were nice to other bands, which was great in a really mixed show. Most notably were Ampersand and Churl--bands don't get nicer. When we played, for some reason I almost passed out. That was really weird. I couldn't really do much for about an hour after. Then we all went to Burger King where the drive through lady kept laughing at us. We still don't know why. Thanks to members of Crestfallen, Index, and Pg 99 for making it to the show.
Date: Saturday March 25th, 2000
Location: The Blue Door(DC Swindlers' drummer's loft), Washington DC.
Details: Hey fill this slot.
Directions: From Kenny X's email: "at 31st and M aka 1072 31st Street, (channel side)" 2 blocks from Smash.
Bands: Hudson Falcons and Daycare Swindlers.
How it went: This was another show where we had less than a week to prepare. As a result, we could only get a handful of our people out. Still, it was one of the best shows in a while for us. The Hudson Falcons and DC Swindlers were all nice people. DC made sure we had all that we needed. We lend equipment all the time but this was the first time that we were thanked. In all, everybody had fun. Even the people from Lost Cause made it out there despite how far away they live. The people, show, and the night were all positive, something seemingly rare these days. Thanks to DC and The Remotes for mailing us.
Date: Friday, March 17th, 2000
Location: 1208a Franklin St, Richmond VA.
Details: IMF Benefit.
Bands: Lewistown, Blair Story, and The Remotes.
How it went: Since it was St. Patrick's Day and there were many show on the same date, I feared a small turnout. Such wasn't the case. The first song Mike was doing something and fell over. That was pretty funny. The guys from The Remotes were the nicest people. I feel that was worth mentioning. I will commend the crowd; During Lewistown's set, a belligerent drunk guy was talking trash to the crowd and trying to provoke a fight. The crowd completely ignored him. I am glad people can recognize some stupidity need not be honored by attention.
Date: Friday, March 3rd, 2000
Location: Kaffa House, Washington DC.
Details: "Hey, fill this slot."
Bands: Crestfallen, Boxcar Children, Scarlet.
How it went: We were the opening band. No broken strings. Hallelujah. We played a 4-song set and had a lot of fun. The rest of the bands played really good sets. Boxcar and Crestfallen really made us feel welcome. After the show we went to a place in Vienna called Amphoras. The quesedillas[sp?] were really hot and our waiter hated us. Why do the Taco Bells have to close so early in Vienna?

Date: Saturday, February 19th, 2000
Location: VFW warehouse. Falls Church VA.
Details:$5. "take 495 towards tysons exit on Rt 7 towards falls church (east) once you pass rt. 66, turn right at the mcdonalds on Shreve rd. its a big white building, address: 7118 Shreve rd., Falls Church call VFW : (703) 241-9274"
Bands: Age of Ruin, Apathy[Md], Sex Machine, Fairweather[ex Caught Looking], Boxcar Children, & Crestfallen.
How it went: As for Left Unsaid, I didn't get through the 3rd song without breaking a string. Yes, thats the 4th string we have broken in 3 consecutive shows. We had fun, but we didn't really recover from that.

The big surprise for us was Crestfallen. They really put on a good show. With the fire and prescence, Sex Machine really had the crowd going. Overall, every band that came out was good, and we really appreciated that they came.
Date: January 15th, 2000
Location: The Cave, Hagerstown Md.
Details: Battle of the bands.
Bands: Crutch, Kavanah Star, Underbrush, Perfekt Gentleman, Lost Cause, Last House on the left, Sotable Potash, Johanna Lanier, Peep Show, Alpha Centauri, Lumpy Jones
How it went: It went very well. Last time we played the Cave we were only able to play for a few minutes due to: 1 broken guitar string, 1 broken bass string(the low E, don't ask me how Mike did that), and something wrong with Hendrik's pedal. Given those circumstances, we took extra precautions for this show. However, I do recall before the show Mike saying "I forgot my extra bass." "Oh you won't break another string. That was one in a million", we told him. Not even before our first song ended, Mike broke his E string. Again.

Mike fixed his string(used an A string tuned to E) and we continued normally, many thanks to the infinite patience of the crowd and others. Scott and Todd were really supportive, and we appreciated it. The fact that everybody danced and had fun made the show great.
Date: December 31st, 1999
Location: Some rec center thingie, Near Culpepper VA.
Details: Regular show.
Bands: Kabra Kai, St. Diablo, and many others. I do apologize for forgetting.
How it went: Sorry that I forgot to put this show up. It was good. We really needed it to be good after such a performance in Maryland. We were all sick (including the people we brought), my singing was way off, and it was the night before the year 2000. Despite that we had a great time and we all feel that we put on a good set. The people there were really cool and receptive. Thanks to all that watched us and talked to us after the show.
Date: November 27th, 1999
Location: The Cave, Hagerstown Md.
Details: Regular show.
Bands: Underbrush, Bodybag, & Terra Firma
How it went: Not well. Not well at all. Scott, the show's main promoter was very cool to us and made us feel welcome, as did sound man. That was the good news. Before the show, Hendrik sliced open his hand on Thanksgiving by discovering the dangers of chicken soup cans. That made him take a trip to the emergency room to get many stitches and a glove. Once we got on stage, it wasn't Hendrik's hand that went out, it was his pedal. That caused a long, awkward pause. Then I broke my low-E string causing another long pause until Dj from Underbrush lent me his guitar. And once Mike broke his E string, that was the end of the show.

As if our own complications were not enough, we had ourselves a little fan at the show as well. While we were playing, a fellow named Luke was mocking us the entire time to impress his friends. So after the set, I walked right up to him and had a little talk. Luke didn't speak as easily to my face as he did when we were on stage. Hmm, maybe a cat got his tongue...
Date: October 30th, 1999
Location: Douglass Community Center, Leesburg, VA.
Details: Halloween Battle of the bands.
Bands: No Potential, Archangel, Scapecoat, Elixir, and many others.
How it went: I thought since Halloween was the next day, nobody would be there. Wrong. Most of the bands there were not heavy acts, so we stood out more. People there were cool and we had fun. Security at that place was nuts, however. There were 'guards' at every entrance and people were constantly asking if I was in one of the bands. The crowd was wild.
Date: August 14th, 1999
Location: St. Edwards Church, Arlington Va.
Details: Regular show.
Bands: S-Process, Ingrain, and Reverse Theology.
How it went: My amp was rigged with a piece of tin in the fuse holder. Felt a little uneasy about that. I think we played well. Kinda tame crowd.
Date: August 7th, 1999
Location: House Party[Denny], Mt. Vernon, VA.
Details: "Hey man. Lets have a party with bands."
Bands: Ourselves and Product 1.
How it went: Our first with Mike as the bass player. I blew my amp during warmup, so I was given a loaner Crate. Most people there were not expecting bands to play. The majority went outside and played on the trampoline. Still, many of our friends stayed and listened so we had fun.
Date: August ~27th, 1998
Location: Jaxx, Springfield VA.
Details: Jay called Hendrik and asked us to play.
Bands: Strawman, No Potential, 40 oz. Nothing, some others.
How it went: Our first show. The trouble started when we were told that a band cancelled leaving us less time to play. Um... ok. Then the soundman mouthed off to Albert. Then they wouldn't turn off the some really bad music right before our set. We were none too pleased.
